Not gonna lie, for foreigners, the idea of sleeping at a public bathhouse might sound a little... different? But TRUST ME, it's iconic and one of my favorite Korean experiences!
So, what exactly IS a jjimjilbang? It's WAY more than just a place to bathe. Think of it as a super huge, 24/7 spa playground! You get a cute, comfy uniform (์ฐ์ง๋ฐฉ ์ท, jjimjilbang ot) to wear, and then you're free to explore. There are tons of different heated rooms like salt rooms, charcoal rooms, even super cold ๐ง ice rooms! And the best part? There are huge common areas with mats and pillows where people just... sleep! Fr fr, families, friends, and even solo adventurers come here to relax, eat, and snooze. Itโs a literal sleepover party!
The vibe is just immaculate. Imagine munching on delicious ์ปต๋ผ๋ฉด (keop-ramyeon, cup noodles) and sipping on refreshing ์ํ (sikhye, sweet rice punch) after a good scrub in the bath area, then just crashing wherever you find a comfy spot. Itโs so uniquely Korean and honestly, it just hits different. It's a super affordable and fun way to stay overnight if you need a place too. No cap, itโs one of my favorite things to do with my friends when we just need to escape and destress!
